Hey there, welcome to my first blog post! I apologize in advance for all the grammar issues and misspellings. I'm brand new to blogging, so this is going to be an adventure for both of us. I have decided to write my first blog about why I started a blog... so here we go. ;)

Back in February, I received a phone call from the company that makes my wheelchairs. The company is called Permobil. The company wanted me to come and speak to their thousand plus employees about how my wheelchair has impacted my life. My jaw dropped, I love to talk and tell people about my disability, but a thousand plus I was horrified. About two weeks later the devastating March 3rd tornado ravaged my hometown, and then COVID-19 hit. So my speaking gig was postponed. I didn't realize though it had left a new passion in my heart. I continued on into quarantine where I spent most of my days just watching YouTube videos and Netflix. I came across a video of Sadie Robertson giving a sermon at a youth conference. She was preaching about the call of God. Sadie described the calling of God as a strong passion that is laid in your heart, and sometimes that passion comes out of nowhere. As soon as the video was over, I instantly started researching how to start a blog, how could I share my story and empower/ educate others. It took about a week and I had made a whole website and I was excited to share it, but I was so nervous I ended up deleting the site.

About a month later I had to start getting ready for college. Let me tell you, going to college is hard, but doing it while being disabled is ten times harder. My family and I were shocked at the lack of disability awareness. I researched and researched trying to find information that could help us with our endeavor of getting me to college. That passion to share my story was still there. I started to feel like God was sending me signs and calling me to speak up. Over the span of June and July, we started working with several different programs to assist me in college, and most everyone I spoke to told me, "Hey you should share your story. It will definitely help others in a similar situation." I had never mentioned the interest when I was told that.

So that leads us to this, my blog Wheeling Through Life. I am excited to share my story and my adventures with you. If there is anything you would like me to write about, or that you would like to know about please let me know!

Lots of Love,

Mattea Trusty ;)
